Looking back on winter sports season

Due to too much work, we are a little bit late looking at two outstanding events: the ICE concours in St Moritz and the FAT Ice Race in Zell am See.

Fortunately, we had our photographer friend Máté Boér present at both. And in Zell-am-See, he was much more than that. Together with Michael Gross, another friend of Tazio, he ended up winning the spectacular skijoring event, with cars pulling skiers along the track. Made all the more spectacular when Michael rolled his Baja Beetle over the finish line. The result was mostly damaged pride, fortunately. The result – the win, we mean, should surprise no one, as Michael and Máté form a well-honed team. You can see them both in action in the famous Grand Tour Scandinavian special.

The FAT Ice Race – previously Ice GP – has been hampered by a lack of snow in recent years, but the 2025 edition made up for that. Porsche traditionally has a strong presence at the Ice Race – family ties – and this year was no exception.

Frozen lake

Over at St Moritz, the ICE – International Concours of Elegance – had similar luck, meaning the Concours could be held on the frozen lake. With five classes bringing together some of the world’s finest classic and racing cars, the ICE differs from other events with participants being able to do a lap of the frozen lake as well, which always brings grandiose imagery.
