The past blasts by: Goodwood Revival 2022

Here are the best bits from this year’s Goodwood Revival. Máté Boér is our guy behind the lens, he sent us these glorious images.

The Austin Seven-parade perhaps best summed up all that Goodwood’s is about: spreading Britishness to an international audience. But perhaps more than anything else, the Goodwood Revival is a celebration of racing.

15 races

With 15 races on the agenda, spread out over two days, and six demonstration events, there never is a dull moment in the Goodwood Revival weekend. This year was no exception, even if the Revival was once again run under the most peculiar of circumstances, this time the farewell to Queen Elizabeth II weighing on the proceedings.

Demos

The Graham Hill tribute, to celebrate the 60 years of his first F1 world title, was a particular highlight. Damon Hill showed his father’s championship-winning BRM P57, leading a selection of other cars in which Graham distinguished himself. The 75 years of Ferrari was another impressive display on the track, with around 75 Ferraris participating in the celebratory laps.

On the grass

Where else would you hear about André Lotterer and Alex Brundle getting involved in some serious side-by-side duelling… in Minis? And the move Frank Stippler in his Alfa Romeo Giulia GTA put on, mostly on the grass, to snatch the lead from Romain Dumas in a Ford Galaxie is something people will talk about a long time coming. These names, in all kinds of historic (looking) machinery, make the Goodwood Revival probably the best classic racing meeting in the world.

Winning at the Goodwood Revival is serious business, so no wonder the grids are filled up with star drivers like Jenson Button, Dario Franchitti, Tom Kristensen, Jochen Mass, Emanuele Pirro, and many more.
