Goodwood Members’ Meeting goes GT1

Goodwood has just announced the first of the demonstration categories for the 80th Members’ Meeting (15 – 16 April 2023). The GT1 stars from the nineties and early 2000s will get their own stage.

Goodwood defines the GT1 category as ‘Le Mans Class and GT1 race winners’, which unites the best from the FIA GT championship and the Le Mans 24 Hours. Among the mythical GT1s never to have raced at Le Mans, we cite the Maserati MC-12 and the Lister Storm.

Ferraris and more

Furthermore, there is room for the Ferrari 550 and 575, the Chrysler Viper GTS-R, the Corvette C5-R and the Saleen S7R GT1, to name but a few. And it will be interesting to see if the likes of the Mercedes CLK GTR, McLaren F1 GTR and the Porsche 911 GT1, not forgetting the Nissan R390 GT1 and the Toyota GT-One, will be present.

Full-on race?

At the moment, Goodwood only has demonstration laps planned for the Members’ Meeting, but given the popularity of the Endurance Legends in other race series such as the Peter Auto Series and Masters Historics, it is clear it is only a matter of time before we will see these GT1s in a race of their own at Goodwood.

In contrast to the Goodwood Revival and Festival of Speed, the Members’ Meeting is a members-only affair. Membership costs 79 GBP per year, tickets to the Members’ Meeting not included.
