{"id":10764,"date":"2024-03-25T09:54:04","date_gmt":"2024-03-25T09:54:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/taziomagazine.com\/?p=10764"},"modified":"2024-03-25T09:54:06","modified_gmt":"2024-03-25T09:54:06","slug":"goodwood-opens-up-tyrrell-shed-during-members-meeting","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/taziomagazine.com\/?p=10764","title":{"rendered":"Goodwood opens up Tyrrell shed during Members\u2019 Meeting"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>At the 81<sup>st<\/sup> Goodwood Members\u2019 Meeting in April, the public will be able to take a peak inside the famous Tyrrell shed where some famous Tyrrell F1 cars saw the light of day.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Tyrrell shed originally was part of the famous Tyrrell timber yard, Ken Tyrrell\u2019s company that was located in Ockham Village, in Surrey (UK). Here, Derek Gardner built Tyrrell\u2019s first Formula 1 \u2013 the Tyrrell 001 \u2013 in 1970. Photo Goodwood\/Grand Prix Photo<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Great for secrecy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>As the premises harbouring Tyrrell\u2019s racing activities grew, the shed nevertheless remained. It was even used to built the six-wheeled Tyrrell P34 in the greatest secrecy. Only at the car\u2019s official unveiling did the press find out that Tyrrell was ditching the classic four-wheel concept for the 1976 season. Photo Ford<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Humble grounds<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The shed symbolizes the humble beginnings endured by many of the British racing teams \u2013 or \u2018<em>garagistas<\/em>\u2019 as Enzo Ferrari used to call them disdainfully. For Lotus and Tyrrell, these low-key starts did not stand in their way of success. It proved a big factory was not an essential ingredient for success in motor racing. The Tyrrell shed also stands in stark contrast to the current, massive, high-tech factories the likes of Renault, Red Bull and Mercedes have in the UK. Photo Newspress<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Move that shed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We cannot imagine the cost involved, but we salute Goodwood for taking the trouble to save the Tyrrell shed, and have it moved from Ockham Village to the Goodwood grounds.
