Many great books exist on Ayrton Senna \u2013 Keith Sutton\u2019s intimate portrait and Tony Dodgins\u2019 account on all of Senna\u2019s races come to mind. We can only recommend adding French photographer, Bernard Asset\u2019s charming little book (24 x 22 cm) to that collection.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asset has followed F1 for decades and built up an incredible photo archive over the years. The pictures \u2013 some previously unpublished \u2013 are the obvious points of interest, but fortunately, there is a lot more to this book than that. After so many years in the sport, Asset is very well-connected, and this shows in the testimonials that introduce us to Senna, the man. There is little room for myth building here: most speak of his generosity and compassion.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ducarouge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the book\u2019s highlights is its French origin, which gives voice to opinions rarely expressed in the English-language-led world of motorsport. There\u2019s F1 designer, G\u00e9rard Ducarouge\u2019s glorification of the Brazilian superstar, but also French TV commentator, Pierre Van Vliet\u2019s very personal, and very private, insight into what Ayrton and Vivian Senna did for him. Alain Prost shares his thoughts, as do Ron Dennis \u2013 in a handwritten note \u2013 Lisa Dennis and Jo Ramirez\u2026 The usual suspects are all present. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
