Next to his well-known car designs \u2013 McLaren F1, JaguarSport XJR-15, Lotus Esprit II, Lotus Elan \u2013 Stevens worked on the graphic design of many a race car. Precisely this is the topic he\u2019ll cover in Tazio.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Peter Stevens is just about the nicest person you\u2019ll ever meet, but as you can see for yourself on his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/search\/top?q=peter%20stevens\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Facebook page<\/a>, he can be razor-sharp when commenting on design. Whilst his car portfolio speaks for itself \u2013 in fact, Peter just wrote a book about the XJR-15 \u2013 his passion for motorsport is less well-known. The root can be found with Peter\u2019s famous uncle, Denis Jenkinson, Motor Sport\u2019s longtime Continental correspondent. Photo Newspress<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">From Brabham to BMW V12 LMR<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Peter Stevens worked on the liveries of race cars from the mid-seventies onwards. First on the Brabhams \u2013 at Bernie Ecclestone\u2019s request \u2013 later on the TWR saloon cars Tom Walkinshaw raced and on Richard Lloyd\u2019s race cars. Stevens was also involved in Prodrive and Subaru\u2019s WRC-winning Impreza, to be continued with Prodrive\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/taziomagazine.com\/?p=7981\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Ferrari 550 GTS Maranello<\/a> and he did design work on the Le Mans-winning BMW V12 LMR. In this series, he\u2019ll talk about his own work and other liveries that have become \u2018iconic\u2019. In his first article for us, Peter goes through the history of car liveries at Le Mans, starting with the national colours first, and gradually seeing sponsor stickers take over, to then become themed by a main sponsor.
