Now, there is of course no industrial ‘save the planet’ model behind it, but what Notargiacomo does, really extends the life of old parts. Look at these suspension parts and brake calliper from a racing Porsche 911 GT3 Cup for example. They have grown into a very unique looking desk lamp that, let’s face it, we all would love in our studies. All creations are handmade. For the desk lamps, Notargiacomo likes to work with Lar – Lavori Artigianali Romani in Rome.

Photo Stefano Notargiacomo

‘Elegant waste’

It’s not just lamps, but coffee tables built on engine blocks are available as well, or a desk box. “Italy is famous for its prestigious cars. For me, even what is considered waste of these cars is something vibrant and elegant to me. This is how I started giving spare parts a second life, I aimed to keep that legend alive. I wanted to do that by giving them a new purpose in a way that you could keep hearing the engine roar at the same time.”

All is tailor-made on behalf of clients. Cheap it is not, but at least it does change the perspective a bit.
