We could not be more proud: Tazio Magazine won Best Automotive Magazine Cover at the Sleeping with Art awards, held in the UK. A strong sign of recognition for our still very young initiative.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, we had hoped we would do well, with our covers being the work of the combined visions of our artist-in-residence Rafael Varela and our art-director Maarten Deckers. That it was precisely the cover of our latest issue, Tazio 5 on the 50 years of BMW Motorsport, made us all the more proud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This was the first magazine cover where we injected more graphical elements in the cover design. It was very rewarding to find that the jury at Sleeping with Art awarded us in a competitive field, a big honour in just one year of existence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bedsor House<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Sleeping with Art is a two-day festival bringing car-related art, in the widest sense, to an exclusive environment. For this year, Sleeping with Art had moved to Bedsor House, known as the location from different blockbuster movies and tv-series. Bedsor House, just outside London yet in rural Buckinghamshire, proved the perfect location for organiser Renata Fernandes to have different artists show their work in front of a crowd of enthusiasts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Piranhas<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

What really stood out was the creativity. Heidi Mraz\u2019s (posing with our award-winning magazine cover) butterfly-built impression of the Porsche 917 becomes more beautiful the more you start looking at the details. The Piranha F1 fish could not have been more correct, especially with last week\u2019s Brazilian Grand Prix in mind. Alastair Gibson makes these out of carbon, by the way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Swarovski helmet<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Tracy Stokes \u2013 Stokesi \u2013 stood out with a full-size Senna helmet, decorated with 49,102 Swarovski cystals. There is only one made, but the cost rises to 27,000 GBP. Tom Hill\u2019s Cavallino Stallion, in your garden for 57,500 GBP, was of course even more expensive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the art car department, Rene Turrek\u2019s BAC Mono was in one word spectacular, shifting to different designs depending on the (UV) light. Again, as with any true art work, only the one copy exists.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
