Days of Elegance brings new concours to Holland

This weekend, the organisers behind the Interclassics shows have their first concours. Days of Elegance takes place in the Maastricht region, and has some very interesting cars in the line-up.

Days of Elegance brings a full classic car programme, with both an oldtimer and a modern GT rally, room for classic car dealers to display some of their automotive jewellery, and above all, a new Concours of Elegance.

The concours takes place in the prestigious setting of Chateau St Geerlach, in the vicinity of Maastricht in the Limburg region in the South of the Netherlands. Visitors can have a look around the concours field both on Saturday and Sunday. Best of Show will be announced on Sunday.

Talbot Lago

We took a closer look at the racing category, and could not help being impressed. The organisers have managed to assemble an impressive field for a first-time event. In the racing class ‘Racing Legends’, we find a 1965 Lola T70 Spyder that was raced in period by Jackie Stewart. Also present on the field, the 1948 Talbot Lago T26C GP single-seater that was victorious in the 1949 Grand Prix de Paris.

Le Mans

Maserati is represented by a 1936 6CM single-seater, a model which conquered the Targa Florio no less than three times in succession (37-38-39). We also see an Alfa Romeo 8C 2300 that raced in Le Mans in 1931 on the list. Another interesting piece of Le Mans history is the 1967 Alpine A211. This was the first time Alpine equipped one of its flyweight cars with a 3-litre V8 engine. It scored third place at Monza in 1968, but most of the time it was held back by mechanical issues. The Alpine A220 followed it in 1969, by which time it became clear to Alpine that they had to follow the prototype route.

Entry tickets cost 50 euros per day. More info can be found here.
