Exclusive A3-sized poster by Rafael Varela. In 2024, we celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Ford GT40’s debut at the Le Mans 24 Hours. The GT40 may be immortal for Henry Ford II’s line ‘let’s kick Ferrari’s ass’, but in reality Ford was served a plate of humble pie, with transmission problems sidelining all three entered GT40s. Yet, the potential was clear for all to see.
You can read the whole story about the Ford GT40’s Le Mans debut in 1964 and 1965 in Tazio 11. We have asked Rafael Varela to sketch us his take on the early GT40 and he came up with this. We felt it was too good not to share with you.
