We now have the Limited Edition of Tazio 11, signed by Porsche 917 legend Kurt Ahrens, available. Just 50 – numbered – copies exist of this hardcover issue. A magazine unlike any other.
After Gérard Larrousse last year, we are proud to say we found another Porsche 917 legend to sign our Limited Edition.
Survivor
Kurt Ahrens is somehow an often overlooked race driver. Unjustified, because here is the man who gave the ill-handling Porsche 917 its first international victory at Zeltweg in Austria. On that same track, he helped sort out the handling problems of the 917, and in 1970 he put the Porsche 917 Langheck on pole. And perhaps most famous of all, he survived a horrendous accident with the 917 during testing in Ehra-Lessien in Germany, when a sudden downpour caused his car to aquaplane into the barriers.
Different mould
At 84, Kurt Ahrens is still more than happy to talk about his driving career, which he abruptly ended in 1970 to give priority to the family business. Ahrens’ interview in issue 11 shows a man who always followed his own instincts, refusing to dance to the corporate tune. Made from a different mould, as they say.
The Limited Edition of Tazio 11 costs €150 (secured shipping excluded) and is available exclusively from our webshop.
